Analysis:

What can I say about this movie man? I walked into this film not expecting a lot honestly after the first trailer and some of the promotional material. Nonetheless, this movie exceeded my expectations. The movie dives into the story as soon as it starts and it allows for the viewer to get immersed into the world of this film. Immediately, we are shown the conflict between Rana and PK start and how it develops from a mistake that someone made. However, a flaw in the first half of this film is that for the most part of the first half the movie moves at a slower pace trying to establish each and every character that is going to be involved in this story. However, other than Nithya Menen and Murali Sharma the rest of the characters in this film almost fail to impress the audience as they are not given much importance in this film at all. Moving past that, the performance by PK in the first few portions is just amazing and sticks to the tone of the film. It is almost like we are watching vintage PK with the dialogue delivery, mannerisms, and expressions throughout these bits. Rana here also acts very well showing the audience how big the ego really is of his character and I must say he justified the role really well by practically living in it to the point where I am reminded of his acting from the Baahubali films. A big minus point in this first half of the film is the picturization of the Bheemla Nayak Title Song which has a good beat and lyrics but the addition of unnecessary cameos and elevations during this song hurts the pace of the film. Nonetheless, after this portion is done we are introduced to the real conflict of the film and that is Rana getting PK suspended and how he reacts to this. To top off the first half we are shown a really good comedy/action scene in the pre-interval with the Lala Bheemla song to follow perfectly after this scene. To top it off, the first half of the film ends off on a perfect note with a face-off between PK and Rana in the bus which showcased the amount of tension between the characters so well.

The second half of the film I have to say is the redemption arc for Trivikram. We start off immediately diving into the conflict of this portion of the film and the pacing is just perfect. It flows so well from a comedy sequence to serious parts and then a fight scene all within 20 minutes. The background score for Thaman especially during the fight scene here works so well it gives a new level high for the audience. The expressions embraced by PK here and his acting is just too good and as I said earlier it just brings back vintage PK. Right after this we are taken into the flashback portion and I expected this portion to fail but the screenplay and writing were so tight and crisp for this portion that it ended up working out really well and helping the story. However, even with some minor lag scenes here and there in the second half topping it off with the climax fight and a few action sequences the movie just ends up working out well. The makers stuck with the essence of the original so well that they even made sure with a star like PK he was still able to be thrashed and hurt in the climax to the point where he was going to die and this addition helps keep the essence of the original really well. The climax is then topped off with the link to the flashback episode which just works logically. To end this film off we have a really good cameo that goes along well in a very good 5-minute comedy scene and the final shot with PK and Rana tops off this film well.

The music and background score from Thaman is just perfect for this film as it elevates each scene to the level that it should be and it does not overpower anything at all. The cinematography by Ravi K. Chandran is good and the editing by Naveen Nooli is crisp and perfect. The screenplay and writing by Trivikram help this movie so much and condenses the original from the 3-hour runtime to just 2.5 hours. The direction by Saagar K Chandra is good and works for what this film should be. Overall, Bheemla Nayak is the film we needed after a 2-month drought, and if you have the chance to then go watch this spectacle in a theater near you.
