Analysis:
Dhamki. That's all I got to say about this film. Now this film's promotions surprised me decently well with the first look poster to the songs to the two trailers that were released. All of those combined generated enough hype for me for this film and I will say I was satisfied watching this film. Now let's move on to the actual review
The film starts off rather in a slow and odd way and it immediately takes us into the world of Das. In the first few sequences rather more of the majority of the first half there is no real story other than the protagonist trying to love this girl and the comedy surrounding it. These sequences are ok and there is nothing too much other than a little laughter here and there this is the biggest negative for the film as you kind of get annoyed and irritated seeing that the story isn't progressing anywhere at this point. The movie however picks up right before the interval with the introduction of Sanjay's character and the real film starts from here as it is taken through an intense setting from here on out.
The second half of the film is where the film really shines. This is where we truly see Vishwak shine as a director as the fast pacing and immense plot buildup takes us through the highs of the movie. The pacing of the second half along with the twists saves it from the first half's lag and lack of story. The film truly shines here and to add on to it Vishwak's acting in both roles help it immensely as it helps sell the action scenes and the overall story of the film even though it gets predictable as it progresses. The biggest plus point for the film is the last 15-20 minutes as it is almost flawless barring some plot holes. With the entire setup that Vishwak decides to take in the final moments of the film, it ends up causing a satisfactory watch and a perfect setup for the sequel.
Along with this the cinematography and music help the film immensely as it brings forth a vibe that is both positive and negative. Leon excels in the background score for the film and it lifts up scenes really well. Along with this the action scenes are shot and choreographed very well with each sequence starting off normally and then ending with an unprecedented high. Overall, if you have an opportunity then go watch Das Ka Dhamki in a theater near you as it is arguably one of the better films that have come out in the past few years that deal with doppelgängers as its leads.
