Dhamaka Review

Overall Rating: 2.5/5

Synopsis:

Swami (Ravi Teja) is a middle-class and rough guy looking for a job, while Anand Chakravarthy (also Ravi Teja) is a soft and business-minded man. Being the son of Nandha Gopal Chakravarthy (Sachin Khedhakar), the head of People Mart, Anand gets into a problem with JP (Jayaram), the CEO of JP Orbit, who plans to take over People Mart. How Anand stops him and where how Swami gets involved in the scuffle makes up the rest of the story.

  • First half

  • Interval block

  • Music/Background Score

Negatives:

  • Second half

Analysis:

Now as a long-time fan of Ravi Teja I'll admit this. I enjoyed the film from start to finish, but that is mainly due to the energy that Ravi Teja has in this film and how he can carry this on his back for the entire movie. I wouldn't say this is purely a comeback for Ravi Teja but at the same time, it was refreshing to see his energy that has not been present for the last 5 years. Along with Teja, we also have Sreeleela, and seeing her dance and acting was also very refreshing in this film as yes she is the regular commercial heroine in all the films but at the same time, she also performed very well.

Coming to the actual film director Trinnadha Rao Nakkina and Prasanna Kumar both did what they promised and that is giving a full-fledged entertainer. The movie is packed with action, comedy, revenge, and there is so much more. Now as highlighted in my negatives, this commerciality is also a negative for this film as this story has been seen and used so many times it is just tiring. However, the entire first half on one side is actually pretty average but very enjoyable as it goes at a very good pace with conflict and resolution on both sides. The best part of this film is the interval block as the twist along with the fight involved is just perfect and it is the right amount of mass and enjoyment for the viewer. However, the treatment of this film after this high is where it goes completely wrong and the movie loses its actual purpose and goes in the most random directions. The very poor song placement in the second half other than the Mass Raja song is just tiring for the viewer. On top of that, the very bad climax and writing just make you wonder what is even going on in the film. The introduction of a second villain towards the end of the film is also very bad as it just makes the climax even worse in this film.

On top of that other than Ravi Teja's characters, the rest of the cast is used very poorly. Yes, even Sreeleela even though she is glamorous and is able to carry the film decently well with the glamour her character is very thin and superficial. On top of that Jayaram, Sachin Khedkhar, and Chirag Jani are just cast in the most typical roles possible and they are used so poorly that it just does not make sense to me whatsoever, and to make matters worse Ali isn't even used in this film for his comedy it doesn't make sense why he is even in the film. On the flip side, Hyper Aadi and Rao Ramesh's characters to an extent are able to generate comedy very well in the film and I found them to make the film better to an extent but even then they aren't fully used.

One of the best parts of this film is the music and background score by Bheems Ceciroleo who just knocks it out of the park for the film. Almost every single scene and song sound perfect to the viewer and I can see myself listening and vibing to the album even after seeing the album because it is just that good. The cinematography by Karthik Gattamneni is good too and works out pretty well. Overall, this film can be a hit or miss for anyone watching but you can give it a chance if you feel like watching it with family or purely watching it for entertainment.
